Did you know that people who have trouble sleeping tend to get more problems with back pain? Getting a good night’s sleep is incredibly important. If you’re having back pain, it can be difficult sometime to figure out which sleep position is best. Fortunately, we have some tips you can use to get into a better sleeping position tonight! Whether you enjoy sleeping on your back, or sleeping on your side, here are your posture tips for a better night’s sleep.

1. If you enjoy sleeping on your side, try putting a pillow between your legs. This promotes better alignment for your hips, pelvis and spine. Keep in mind though that it is not recommended to sleep on the same side all the time. Doing so could lead to muscle imbalance and even scoliosis.

2. If you enjoy sleeping on your back, put a pillow under your legs. Try using a pillow that is more firm and gives all-over support. This sleep position is beneficial because it allows your spine to keep its natural curve.

3. For on your stomach sleepers, try putting a pillow underneath your abdomen. The ideal pillow for this position would be a thinner pillow. People who have degenerative discs will especially benefit from this position as it helps relieve stress between your discs.

These are just some sleep posture tips to help promote better sleep; but besides using these sleep posture tips, daily exercise can help promote better sleep. Also, do not use your phone too close to bedtime as the blue light reduces your amount of melatonin. We hope these sleep posture tips help you get a better night’s rest.
